Founded by Cheyanne in 2015, Seashell Canine Care (formerly known as Happy Tails Teeth Cleaning) has earned a reputation as Vancouver Island’s trusted choice for gentle canine oral care. Our mission is built on love, trust, and a deep commitment to your dog’s well-being.
Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside a wide network of trusted pet professionals. From grooming salons to dog trainers, pet shops to local veterinarians, we’ve built strong relationships across the industry. Cheyanne
With over 19 years in the pet care industry, Cheyanne has dedicated her career to helping dogs live healthier, happier lives. Her journey began at just 12 years old, starting as a dog bather in a local grooming salon. Over time, she became a skilled pet groomer, spending years perfecting her craft with bubbles, clippers, and scissors. But it was the connection between oral health and overall wellness that truly sparked her passion.
In 2012, she became certified as a Pet Oral Hygiene Specialist, blending her hands on experience with a focus on preventative health. That passion led her to create Seashell Canine Care, where she provides compassionate, professional oral care while always putting each dog’s comfort and safety first.
When she’s not caring for dogs, you’ll likely find Cheyanne exploring the island she proudly calls home. A true nature lover, she enjoys hiking local trails, beachcombing for seaside treasures, and discovering cozy cafés and local markets. Her love of the ocean, slow living, and animals inspires everything she does, both inside and outside of Seashell Canine Care.
Zafiya
Zafiya joined Seashell Canine Care as a receptionist, but it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the work happening behind the scenes. Having grown up with many animals, she’s always had a passion for caring for them, which naturally led her toward a career in pet care. Once immersed in the day to day at Seashell, her curiosity and love for animals quickly evolved into a calling.
After apprenticing under Cheyanne from 2023-2024, observing hundreds of cleanings and mastering the ins and outs of gentle canine oral hygiene, Zafiya now proudly serves as the manager of Seashell Canine Care. Her calm nature, eye for detail, and genuine love for animals shine through in every appointment.
Outside of work, Zafiya enjoys spending time in nature, trying new recipes, and getting lost in a good book. She’s also a proud pet parent to Bean, her curious and cuddly cat, and Noodle, her adorable Pac Man frog.
Abby
Abby has loved animals for as long as she can remember. Growing up surrounded by pets, she developed a deep connection with animals and began pet sitting at just 11 years old. What started as a way to spend more time with animals quickly grew into a passion for creating positive experiences and supporting pets and their families.
Joining Seashell Canine Care as a receptionist has allowed Abby to continue growing in the pet care industry while being part of a team dedicated to animal wellness. She enjoys welcoming clients, creating a calm and comfortable environment, and helping every family feel supported from the moment they walk through the door.
Outside of work, Abby enjoys spending time at the gym, expressing her creativity through arts and crafts, exploring scenic video games, and collecting bones and unique treasures in nature. Her caring nature, love for animals, and eagerness to learn make her a valued member of the Seashell Canine Care team.
Zoey
Meet Zoey “the Pink Dog” – a 4-year-old Mexican Mutt who’s the adorable inspiration behind our practice. Rescued and adopted from Mexico, Zoey found her way to Vancouver Island and straight into the heart of Seashell Canine Care.
As our CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer), Zoey’s joyful presence keeps things lighthearted and fun, representing the heart of what we do, treating every pet like family. She’s always ready with tail wags, treat recommendations, and the kind of unconditional love that reminds us why we do what we do.
